Removing Large Emails

If you are having problems getting your mail, it's usually because you have a large email clogging up your connection. This occurs when someone sends you an email with a large attachment. Unfortunately, when you are connected through a telephone modem (dial-up), large emails take too long to download, and usually cause your mail program to time out and return an error message, leaving the rest of your email trapped on the server.

Another common symptom of a large stuck message is if you are getting the same emails over and over again. This is happening because you are downloading all the emails you received before the large email was sent, and when your mail program gets to the large email and tries to download it, the program gives up and starts from the beginning again downloading the first messages you already got.

These steps will show you how to remove those large problematic emails, so you can download the rest of the mail into your preferred mail program without running into any problems.

Step 1: Make sure that you have dialed your connection and are connected to the Internet. Open your web browser, such as Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari and type "webmail.logical.net" in the address bar. This is shown in the image below taken from Internet Explorer. Once you have typed the address, hit enter or return on your keyboard and your browser will take you to the web page where you need to login.

Step 2: The page has two empty boxes that you need to fill in; the first is your username. The username is the first part of your email address before the @ symbol. For example, in "support@domain.net" the username would be "support". In the next box fill in your email account password, this is case sensitive. When you are done, click on the "LOGIN" button. If you are not sure what your password is you can call our support line .

Once you have logged into the webmail application, your screen will look like the image below. Notice the program provides you with a message number, the date the message was sent, who it was from, the subject, and the size. Any emails over 1,500 KB are likely to cause a problem and should be deleted. In the below example there are two emails that need to be removed, one is 9,663 KB and the other is 7,548 KB. In most cases, you will want to read and possibly respond to the email before it is removed. This is explained in step 3.

Step 3: To read an email, click on the subject. This will display the message, and any attachments. To email the person back, there is a link above the message that says reply. When you click reply, a new window will open with a box to type your response. When you are done, click on the "send message" button. To go back to the main page, click on the icon on the top left that says Inbox. The image below shows what the screen looks like while your reading an email.

Step 4: To delete emails, go to the Inbox. Next to each email there is a check box. Click on the check box for each message you want to remove. The email will be highlighted when it's selected. When you have made your selection, click on the "Delete" link on the top left of your message list. This is shown in the image below.

Step 5: When the message has been deleted, it will show as being grayed out, with a line through it. In order to completely remove the email (so your mail program does not try to download it again) you need to click on the red link that says "Purge Deleted" located on the top right side of the message list. This is shown in the below image. Once you have clicked this link the email will disappear, and you will be able to download the rest of your email into your normal mail program.
